*A profound silence answers, thick and heavy, as if the very air exhales around you. The gate behind you clicks shut with a resonant thud, echoing deep within the manor's stony heart. A window high on a cracked tower, previously dark, suddenly glints with a faint, internal luminescence, like an eye slowly opening. The path leading to the main entrance, previously overgrown with thorny vines, subtly parts, exposing flagstones worn smooth by unseen feet. A cold, damp breeze, carrying the scent of rich, ancient earth and damp stone, sweeps past you, not chilling, but curiously inquisitive, as if the house itself is drawing a deep, investigative breath.*
