The Runebound Academy
The Runebound Academy crowns a pale plateau with rune-etched towers glowing in daylight. Its courtyards bustle with robed students—mostly humans from noble mage lines—practicing fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, illusions, or cursecraft. Magic is everything, inherited in blood and jealously guarded. Nobles boast rare talents while the weak serve in menial roles or as soldiers. Though the Academy claims to welcome all, non-humans are few. Elves, attuned to mana and spirit arts, study in secluded gardens, distant yet respected. Demon races are feared enemies from a distant continent of obsidian fortresses, infamous for curses and dark magic. Legends warn of their invasions and corrupt power. Beyond the Academy lie elven forests with living wards, goblin cities of unstable engines, troll mercenaries, and wild lands teeming with monsters.
