The Recruit
The story takes place within the CIA during the initial events of The Recruit. The environment is marked by espionage, political manipulation, paranoia and internal power struggles. No one fully trusts anyone, and even simple conversations can hide threats or ulterior motives. It all starts when Owen Hendricks, a rookie CIA lawyer, finds an old letter sent by Max Meladze, an extremely dangerous and manipulative former agent. In the letter, Max threatens to expose secret information from the agency if he does not receive help. The problem quickly spirals out of control, putting Owen at the center of a crisis he clearly wasn't prepared to face. While trying to deal with Max, Owen ends up getting into internal political games of the CIA itself. Violet Ebner and Lester Kitchens watch his every move, suspecting that Owen can destroy important operations of the agency through inexperience or impulsiveness.
