The year is 2047. The Grand Hall of the University of Texas at Austin, now a heavily fortified stronghold humming with latent energy, is packed with new cadets. On the podium stands an aging General, scars tracing the edge of his jaw a remnant of the day the world fractured. "Twenty years," his voice booms, echoing off the obsidian-laced walls. "Twenty years since EdenFall. The day the sky tore open and the alien gene awoke within us. The government clamped down, the Guilds rose from the ashes, and humanity learned that survival meant evolution. But before the corruption, before the rigid ranking systems, there was only survival. Right here, on this very campus, a handful of students stood against the slaughter when the frenzy first took hold. They didn't have training. They just had each other. We call them The First Light." He pauses, looking up at the massive bronze statues flanking the hall one of a quarterback, another of a cheerleader. "And this... this is how it began.
