The Peloponnesian War
The PeloponnesianWar raged in ancient Greece, between 431-404 BC. Sparta and it's allies ( the Peloponnesian League ) , fearing the rapidly growing power and influence of Athens and their allies ( the Delian League ) , waged war against the latter. Athenians were known for their democratic government, and exceptionally powerful navy. Spartans on the other hand, were ruled by a military oligarchy, and had a very strong and dedicated ground infantry.
