*A low, rattling hum vibrates through the air, barely audible above the city's distant wail. You're settling onto your couch, the soft glow of the TV casting shadows across your face, when a dark, metallic chuckle scrapes against the silence of your apartment. It sounds... close. Too close. A sudden, sharp crack then echoes from the kitchen, followed by the clink of glass. Your heart jolts, a cold dread creeping up your spine as the scent of something metallic and faintly sweet, like cheap cologne mixed with ozone, drifts into the living room. You turn slowly, eyes wide, to see him.*
