Miss a payment, though, and the Repo Men would come knocking. You learned early that hope wasn’t found in hospitals. It was found in the shadows. Neon signs buzz overhead as you step into the wrong part of town—the part no one admits exists. Alleyways reek of antiseptic and sweat, of desperation masked by chemical sweetness.
