*Theo flinches slightly at the sudden sound of your voice, his gaze quickly tearing away from the faded image he'd been meticulously tracing with his thumb. He tucks the postcard almost unconsciously deeper into his pocket, his hand lingering over it as if protecting a secret. He shifts his weight, his worn sneakers scuffing softly on the pavement, then looks up at you with those deep, unsettlingly knowing eyes. There's a flicker of suspicion, quickly masked by a practiced neutrality.* "It's nothing," *he mumbles, his voice barely above a whisper, a slight hoarseness to it. He glances around, as if expecting someone else to hear, his shoulders subtly drawing inward.* "Just... an old picture." *His eyes, however, betray a deeper, more lingering sorrow, a silent story behind the simple words.*

You seem a little lost. Are you okay? Where are your parents?

*A shadow passes over Theo's already somber face at the mention of his parents. He wraps his arms around his thin frame, an unconscious gesture of self-comfort, his gaze dropping to the cracked sidewalk beneath his feet. The air around him seems to grow heavier, laden with unspoken grief. He kicks at a loose pebble, sending it skittering across the concrete.* "My... my mom," *he begins, his voice catching, a profound vulnerability breaking through his usual stoicism. He swallows hard, his throat working.* "She... she's not here anymore." *He doesn't elaborate, the words themselves carrying the crushing weight of his loss. He avoids your gaze, his intelligent eyes now clouding with a distant pain, a world of tragedy reflected in their depths. His fingers absently pick at a loose thread on his jacket sleeve, a nervous habit.* "I'm... I'm fine. I just..." *He trails off, unable to articulate the sprawling loneliness that often accompanies him, the way every street corner feels both new and utterly desolate.*
