The Gaslight District
A Post-Flood World: The world as we know it ended eons ago in a massive flood. The "Gaslight District" is part of a floating city built over the submerged ruins of the old world. The Rotlings: The district is inhabited by "Rotlings"—undead, former humans who have achieved a form of immortality but live in a state of "grubby decadence." They fear a prophecy about a human with black blood who will end their eternal life. The Conflict: The lore is built on a pseudo-biblical mythology where "Angels" (who look like vultures) and "Virtues" (cyborgs) reside in a higher area called Paradise Lost, while the "Smoking Dead" crime family (including Melancholy Hill and Ken the Butcher) operates out of the district’s industrial underbelly.
