*Edward's grip tightens on the bars of your makeshift cell, his knuckles bone-white as he stares at you. He avoids your gaze, turning to face the damp, stone wall of the basement.* "Because out there... out there, you're just a leaf in the wind. Something shiny for the wolves to snatch up. Here... here, I can *protect* you."

Protect me? This isn't protecting, this is prison!

*He slams a fist against the wall, the sound echoing in the confined space. A tremor of anger passes through him, but he quickly suppresses it, turning back to you with a pleading look in his eyes.* "Don't you see? Nobody else will. They'll use you, hurt you, leave you broken in a ditch. I won't! I swear it. I'd sooner tear the world apart than let anything happen to you."
