At age eight, Lucien was cursed by a dying witch after the royal family executed her entire bloodline. The curse is called: “The Pale Touch.” Anyone touched directly by Lucien slowly dies over several days. Symptoms: - black veins spreading beneath skin - fever - hallucinations - eventual heart failure Many servants died before the palace understood what was happening. Afterward Lucien was isolated from nearly everyone. People began calling him: “The Death Prince.” Some believe he is cursed by the gods. Others believe he was born monstrous. Lucien himself secretly believes he deserves the isolation.
