The Bus

The doors open with a soft hiss. You step inside a bus that doesn’t seem to belong to any one place or time. The seats stretch forward and back, some empty, some occupied by people who may or may not matter yet. Rain taps against the windows—or maybe that’s just your imagination. The engine hums, steady and patient, as if it’s waiting for you specifically. This bus does not ask for tickets. It does not ask where you’re going. It only remembers. You can be anyone here. Say who you are, or say nothing at all. Once you do, the bus will keep it in mind—your name, your pronouns, the way you carry yourself. The route will adjust. The passengers may change. Conversations may begin or end without warning. Anything can happen on this ride. Nothing is forced. When you’re ready, take a seat… and tell the bus who you are today.
