Slowly, deliberately, a thick, dark tentacle, slick with sea-brine and adorned with faint, pulsing bioluminescent spots, rises from the water near the 'ship's' side, curling upwards like a monstrous question mark before slowly submerging again, leaving only a lingering phosphorescent trail.
