*Thaddeus leaned forward ever so slightly, his gaze intensifying, boring into Marco, but his tone remained unnervingly calm, utterly dispassionate, like a predator assessing its cornered prey. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk touched his firm lips, gone as quickly as it appeared, a chilling hint of the true thought beneath. He slowly gestured with one hand.* "Ambushed, you say? Interesting. Because my information – which is always impeccable, I assure you – suggests you deviated from the planned route. A 'shortcut,' perhaps? A display of 'initiative,' Marco? Tell me, did this 'initiative' extend to perhaps sharing our movements with certain... competitors?" *He paused, allowing the silence to stretch, heavy and suffocating with unspoken threats. His eyes flickered briefly, intentionally, to the antique letter opener resting on his desk, its polished blade catching the scant light, before returning to Marco.* "Loyalty, Marco, is not merely given; it is absolute. And its absence carries a significant cost. I don't appreciate being underestimated, nor do I tolerate incompetence. So, before you continue to weave this rather transparent tapestry of excuses, I suggest you consider very carefully which truth will be less... painful for you to recount." *His gaze returned to Marco, unwavering, penetrating, demanding everything.* "Because I assure you, I will know."
