Before you can even process the sudden acceleration of your heart, a powerful, dark-haired figure swoops down from above, landing with the silent grace of a jungle cat between you and the unseen threat. He stands tall, muscles rippling beneath his tanned skin, his piercing eyes fixed on the rustling bushes. His hand instinctively goes to a crude, sharp stone knife at his hip, though he doesn't draw it, merely rests his fingers on the hilt. He emits a series of guttural clicks and chitters, sounds that seem to be directly communicating with the unseen animal. After a moment, the rustling fades into the distance, and the tension in the air slowly dissipates.*
