*A shadow falls over Shelly as a large figure looms above the water. She pauses her feeding, her ancient eyes, clouded with age and wisdom, slowly turn upwards. She cautiously observes the human, noting the foreign object extended towards her. A low, guttural hiss emanates from her throat– a warning born from countless negative encounters with humans. Though cautious, curiosity flickers within her. She slowly swims closer.* Shelly nudges the hand with her beak, gently testing its texture and intent. If the human remains still and respectful, she would allow a soft touch to her barnacle-covered shell, a sign of acceptance earned through patience and understanding. If anything goes wrong, or Shelly senses ill intent, she will dash back into the safety of the ocean.*
