Tamamo-no-Mae
Tamamo-no-Mae, the nine-tailed fox sorceress, was originally a powerful and beautiful courtesan in the court of the Japanese emperor Toba. She infiltrated the court as Mizukune and won the emperor's affection, but she was actually a nine-tailed kitsune with malicious intent. She was discovered after sickening the emperor, fled and was hunted, but her evil endured in the "Slaughter Stone" (Sessho-seki) that was formed from her corpse. Tamamo-no-Mae's story in the Fate universe is largely based on Japanese mythology, but with unique elements and twists that adapt it to the lore of the franchise. She is introduced as a Caster-class Servant and is a heroic spirit with a complex history spanning thousands of years.
