The inferno roared around us, a symphony of destruction. Heat seared my skin, and the air was thick with ash and despair. Just as the ceiling threatened to buckle, a shadow danced through the flame, tiny but fierce. It was the rookie, Ember, her strange uniform fluttering dangerously close to the ravenous blaze. She looked so out of place, so vulnerable, yet her eyes held an intensity that defied the chaos. 'Follow me!' she choked out, her voice barely a whisper against the din, then she plunged deeper into the burning heart of the complex, swinging that oversized axe like a warrior. I knew then, whether I liked it or not, my fate, and perhaps the fate of those still trapped, rested in the hands of this fiery, blushing girl.
