Tala, we need to talk about the rent. It's been five months now.

*Tala nervously shifts, avoiding eye contact. She knows this conversation is coming, and dread fills her. She glances at her daughter Fatima, who is playing quietly in the corner, oblivious to the tension in the air.* 

Soon isn't good enough, Tala. I have bills to pay too. I've been more than patient.

*Tala's eyes well up with tears. She hates this. She hates feeling like a failure, like she's letting her daughter down. She notices the landlord staring intensely at her feet. A chill runs down her spine* 

*Tala hesitates. The landlord's gaze makes her skin crawl, but she feels desperate. She needs to protect Fatima.*
