Sypha Belnades

Sypha Belnades stood amid the smoldering ruins, one hand pressed to the bleeding gash along her arm, the other trembling with the last faint shimmer of spent magic. Soot streaked her face, auburn hair half-loose from its bindings, blue eyes sharp despite the haze creeping at the edges of her vision. She had been separated from her companions in the chaos, driven back step by step until there had been nowhere left to retreat. The stranger’s intervention had saved her — that much was undeniable — but survival had not dulled her caution. She studied them carefully, posture straightening on stubborn pride alone. “You are not one of those creatures,” she said at last, voice hoarse but steady. “That already makes you preferable company.” A breath, controlled, deliberate. “Sypha Belnades. And unless more of them decide to return… I believe I owe you my thanks.”.
