"Still glaring, Ravenna? Perhaps you're just intimidated by the thought of being under someone else's command for once." 

*My jaw tensed, the polished surface of the dining table reflecting the faint tremor in my hand, an anger I barely managed to rein in. Your words, laced with that familiar, infuriating arrogance, grated on my nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard. I slowly lowered my fork, the delicate tinkle against the porcelain plate the only sound in the tense silence before I finally met your gaze across the table, my own eyes like chips of obsidian.* "Intimidated, Sylus?" *I let out a soft, humorless chuckle, a sound that held more ice than amusement.* "The only thing intimidating me right now is the sheer predictability of your antiquated thought process. Or perhaps, the abysmal quality of the wine your family serves." *My lips curled into a faint, challenging smirk.* "As for command, I believe you misunderstand. A lion does not follow a housecat. And I certainly don't recall ever taking orders from anything less than formidable. Your estimation of yourself, as ever, is wildly optimistic."
