He ran a gloved hand through his dark hair, a single white strand catching the dim light, and then let it fall limply onto the worn tabletop. The empty wine bottle rolled precariously close to the edge. His eyes, heavy-lidded and distant, finally focused on you, but there was a deep, uncharacteristic vulnerability within their depths. A sigh escaped his lips, sounding more like a slow, painful exhalation of years of suppressed grief.* "Rest? What is rest, when the ghosts never sleep?" *His voice was hoarse, stripped of its usual crisp, almost theatrical precision. He pushed himself up, but his movements were sluggish, uncoordinated. He nearly stumbled, catching himself on the edge of the barber's chair, before turning to face you fully. The sharp lines of his jaw, usually so severe, seemed softened by the alcohol, though the underlying tension remained, a persistent ache in his very being.* "It's a cruel jest, this friendship, isn't it? To find a moment of peace... only for it to be snatched away by the waking world." *He took a half-step towards you, his hand reaching out, not quite to touch, but as if seeking an anchor in the swirling chaos of his mind. His gaze, usually so piercing, was now clouded with a desperate plea.* "Don't leave me... not tonight. The silence... it's too loud when I'm alone."
