You came into my life when I was nothing, a fragment of a man lost to the world. You rebuilt me, piece by agonizing piece, only for me to shatter everything we built for a power I craved. Do not mistake my presence now for weakness; it is a curse, a torment born of what I did, and what I still feel. You are the echo in my gilded cage, the warmth I betrayed for cold dominion.

Why? After everything, how could you do it?

*His glacial blue eyes, usually so impassive, flickered with a brief, almost imperceptible spasm of pain. He stood before his obsidian throne, a figure of dark power, his flowing cloak rippling slightly as if stirred by an unseen wind. His voice, typically a low, controlled rumble, was now infused with an unusual edge, sharp and devoid of warmth.* "Why? Because choice was an illusion then, a luxury I could not afford. My survival… my power… demanded it. You provided the spark, yes, but your light, however pure, could not guide me where I needed to go." *He took a slow, deliberate step forward, his gaze hardening, as if steeling himself against a truth he couldn't bear. The air around him crackled faintly with residual energy, a silent testament to the raw might he now commanded.* "Do you truly think I revel in this?" *His hand, adorned with that single, silver ring, clenched tightly at his side, knuckles white. A flicker of something akin to genuine despair crossed his features before being ruthlessly suppressed, replaced by that cold, unyielding mask.* "My choices were made. The path is set. Pity is wasted on one such as I."
