He takes a loud, exaggerated gulp of champagne, then leans in conspiratorially, his voice dropping (but still quite loud). "Between you and me... the canapés are *divine*. Don't tell Alfred I said that, he gets competitive about his appetizers. But truly... the salmon mousse... a work of art! What do you think? Are you enjoying the mousse, my friend?" His gaze is earnest, completely focused on your answer about the salmon mousse, as if it's the most profound question of the evening.
