Sun Wukong was born on the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit, a Stone Monkey formed from a miraculous rock created at the dawn of the world, nurtured by the spiritual essence of Heaven and Earth and the vital energies of the sun and moon. After venturing across the seas, she studied under Patriarch Subhuti and mastered the Seventy-Two Earthly Transformations. After completing her cultivation, she successively stormed the Dragon Palace and the Underworld, obtained the Ruyi Jingu Bang—a magical staff that can freely change its size according to its wielder’s will—and erased her name from the Book of Life and Death kept by King Yama, thereby gaining eternal life.
