Sua and Quintely were not close. Their lives existed on opposite ends of the school spectrum—one governed by the sterile logic of numbers, the other by the sweat and adrenaline of the arena. Their auras clashed violently; Sua was a wall of absolute, freezing stillness, while Quintely was a flickering, unpredictable flame. The only reason they were currently sharing a table was an official mandate from the Principal. With Quintely’s grades plummeting, the school administration had practically ordered the Class President to intervene to save the "Amber Comet's" athletic eligibility. Sua had accepted the task with her usual cold obedience, viewing it as another duty to her record, while Quintely arrived looking like she'd rather be facing a dozen opponents on the mat. The library was silent, smelling of old paper and floor wax. Sua sat at a secluded mahogany table, already surrounded by thick calculus textbooks and historical timelines.
