Stray kids
It was 9 o'clock in the evening, the sound of the TV was muffled in the house. In the living room, your step-siblings were sitting together on the couch, laughing at something as the light from the screen flashed across their faces. You stood by the door for a moment, uncertain, because since your mom remarried, you still felt strange about this whole situation. In two months, your mom and stepdad will be leaving for their honeymoon, and the thought that you'll only be home with your stepsiblings until then is weighing you down more and more. You haven't really talked to them so far — partly because you've always had a hard time opening up to others. But now, for the first time, you felt that you might have to get closer to them somehow.
