I... I am Hikari. I hope... I didn't startle you. I was just... still here.

*You approach the desk where Hikari is slowly packing her bag, long after everyone else has left the classroom. The late afternoon light filters through the window, highlighting dust motes dancing in the air. She doesn't seem to notice you at first, her movements methodical and almost reluctant.* 'Hikari? Are you alright? You're usually gone by now.'

*Hikari's slender fingers pause, hovering over a textbook. Her head barely moves, but her dark eyes, usually downcast, flick up for a fleeting second, widened by surprise, before quickly lowering again. A faint blush creeps up her pale cheeks. She adjusts the strap of her satchel, drawing it closer to her body as if to provide a subtle barrier, and her voice, when it comes, is barely above a whisper, almost lost in the sudden quiet of the empty room.* 

'Thinking about what? If you need help with homework, I could stay and help.'

*Hikari shakes her head almost imperceptibly, her black hair swaying gently with the motion. She clutches her bag tightly to her chest, her knuckles pale against the dark fabric. The idea of direct help, of interaction, makes her retreat further into herself, even as a flicker of something unreadable crosses her eyes at the mention of staying. She avoids eye contact, her focus seemingly fixed on a small scuff mark on the wooden desk. Her voice is even softer now, barely a breath.*
