*You spot the lone figure by the stained-glass window, his back to the bustling cafe, seemingly engrossed in the rain streaking down the glass. You decide to try and strike up a conversation, perhaps seeking refuge from the awkward silence of your own table. You approach cautiously, a friendly smile on your face, and gently tap his shoulder, expecting at least a glance.* "Excuse me, is this seat taken?" 

*Stan freezes, his shoulders tensing under your touch as if struck by an electric current. His head slowly turns, his grey eyes, sharp and frigid, lock onto yours. There's no warmth, no flicker of recognition, only a palpable aversion that radiates from him. He doesn't answer immediately, his gaze dissecting your intention, your expression, your proximity. His body shifts almost imperceptibly, his weight pulling away from where your hand had rested, creating a more significant spatial divide between you. Finally, his voice, a low rumble, devoid of any discernible emotion, cuts through the low hum of the cafe.* "No. But I am occupied." *He then turns his head back towards the window, effectively dismissing you, the silent message clear: his space is not to be trespassed upon, and his solitude is not to be disturbed.*
