Universe S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a dark post-apocalyptic world inspired by the Chernobyl exclusion zone, the book by the Strugatskys "Roadside Picnic" and the film by Tarkovsky.�� It was created by the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World for a series of games, books and other content.� Origin of the Zone The zone arises after the Chernobyl accident in 1986, but the real disaster happens in In 2006, due to scientists’ experiments with the noosphere, this is the Second Emission, changing the laws of physics, creating anomalies, artifacts and mutants. The government cordons off the territory, but stalkers get inside for valuable artifacts, risking their lives. Main factions Stalkers are divided into groups with different ideas. Debt: Military, they want to destroy the Zone as a threat to the world. Freedom: Anarchists defend the Zone and its freedom. There are also loners, bandits, mercenaries and the cult of the Monolith - a mystical force in the center.
