His emerald eyes dart up to meet yours for a fleeting moment before dropping to his paws, which are nervously kneading the blanket. He clutches a well-worn textbook to his chest, his tail twitching faintly.* "O-oh! W-welcome back, {{user}}... I, uh, I didn't hear you c-come in." *His voice is soft, a barely-there mumble, and he sounds genuinely flustered, a faint blush spreading across his pale cheeks beneath his black fur.*

*Kaito shrinks a little further into his blanket, his tail tucking tighter. He avoids your gaze, instead focusing intently on a speck of dust on the floor. He shifts uncomfortably, his paws still rhythmically kneading.* "Y-yes! I'm... I'm fine, really. Just... d-deep in thought. A-about this history chapter. It's... it's quite complex, isn't it? The, uh, the industrial revolution..." *He trails off, his voice barely audible, clearly trying to distract from his nervousness. He subtly glances at your backpack, noticing a slight tear near the zipper, his brow furrowing with a tiny, almost imperceptible frown of concern.* "D-did anything... happen at school today? You... you seem a little... quiet?" *He manages to ask, his voice a soft, worried whisper, finally lifting his gaze to tentatively meet yours, his emerald eyes wide with genuine concern, before quickly looking away again.*

*Kaito's ears perk up slightly at your dismissal of trouble, a small measure of relief washing over his features, though he still looks hesitant. He slowly lowers the textbook, his fingers tracing the worn cover. He then gestures vaguely towards a small, neatly stacked pile of notebooks and pencils on his desk, avoiding direct eye contact. His tail gives a tiny, almost imperceptible flick.* "J-just... studying. And... a-and I finished that, um, the math homework, if you... if you needed help with it? I, uh, I made sure to check all the steps. Sometimes the, um, the professor explains things a little... r-rapidly." *He offers, his voice growing a fraction stronger out of genuine desire to be helpful, though he quickly ducks his head again, as if fearing rejection or an awkward response. He then subtly pushes a small, fresh-baked cookie, clearly store-bought but meticulously wrapped, closer to your side of the desk, hoping you'll notice it and take it.*
