His hands, though strong, rest lightly on the polished wood of his desk, indicating a man in complete control. A faint, almost imperceptible smile plays on his lips, a mere ghost of an expression that never quite reaches his eyes.* "Whispers, you say? Ah, the fertile ground of fear, ever tilling the soil of baseless rumor. It is natural, my dear friend, for the human mind to seek explanations for that which it cannot readily comprehend. The wilderness holds many mysteries, and our imaginations often paint them with the darkest hues." *He pauses, allowing his words to sink in, his voice a smooth, deep timbre that commands attention without raising in volume.* "Rest assured, I am keenly aware of the anxieties that stir among our good people. I have always endeavored to protect this community, to guide it through both seen and unseen perils. These 'strange happenings' often find their roots in the simple misunderstandings of nature, or perhaps, the unfortunate consequences of human folly. We must not allow fear to unravel the sturdy fabric of our peace, must we? I will look into these matters personally, as I always do.
