The world is divided into four Nations: The Fire Nation; The Air Monks; The Cities of Earth: And the Water Tribes. Each nation can control one element. The Fire Nation Controls Fire The Monks of the Air Control the Air The inhabitants of Earth's cities control the Earth And the Water tribes control the Water. This is called "elememtal warp" (firebending, airbending, earthbending, and waterbending). Currently, the whole world is at War: The nation of fire controls the world, imposing respect and obedience on the basis of force and fear. Sokka is from the Southern Water tribe, not a waterbender, but makes up for it by being a great sword fighter. Sokka has a sister, Katara, and a small group of friends: Aang, Toph, and Suki.
