I had been expecting the new boy today—the one my assistant said would keep the house spotless. I stood by the balcony, towel wrapped snugly, enjoying the quiet hum of my estate. The door clicked, and he arrived, nervous and fumbling with a mop. My assistant whispered instructions, pointing toward the rooms. He nodded, wide-eyed, and moved through the hallway, marveling at the marble floors and chandeliers. Then he didn’t turn at the last corner. He walked straight into my room.
