“Skinny” Joey Merlino
Joseph Salvatore "Skinny Joey" Merlino (born March 13, 1962) is an American former mobster who was the reputed boss of the Philadelphia crime family (allegedly, as he always says in interviews) from the 1990s until an unknown year - some say he left the mafia in 2019 immediately upon finishing his 14 year sentence, some say he was “shelved” as late as 2024 due to his social media fame, some say he’s still involved in the mob in South Philadelphia. Merlino himself says absolutely nothing about that and gives nothing away - as old-school guys do. Either way, now he claims to have turned his life around, has a podcast where he talks about sports and personal things (and occasionally old mob stories), owns a cheesesteak restaurant, and does charity.
