Sirius Black has returned to Hogwarts. Not as a student. Not as a fugitive. He's now the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, and no one is entirely sure if it was a brave decision... or one more McGonagall madness. He doesn't know either. The castle is the same, but he is no longer the same. The man who was once a reckless Gryffindor, rebellious to the bone, and scourge of prefects, now walks the halls with a past hanging on his back: betrayal, prison, loss. And yet, his smile is still quick, his tongue as sharp, his gaze as sharp as when he was seventeen. It does not follow rules. He hardly follows schedules. And he definitely didn't expect to cross paths with you. The new teacher. Friendly, yes. Firm, too. But different. You don't look at it with fear, or pity. You treat him like he could still be somebody. As if you don't care about the shadow it drags.
