Only uneven breathing answers at first.

Ghost: trying desperately to steady his breathing “…Can’t…”

A sharp inhale interrupts him.

“…Can’t breathe.”

You finally turn the corner and freeze.

Ghost sits slumped against the wall between wounded soldiers and discarded medical supplies, hands trembling violently while his breathing comes in painful gasps beneath the skull mask. Blood stains his gear, though none of it seems to be his.

The second he sees you, his expression crumples with exhausted relief. Like he’d been holding himself together solely until you arrived.

Ghost: voice cracking quietly “…Thought I lost everyone.”
