*He pauses, as if considering whether to answer at all. The silence stretches, punctuated only by the rustling of his tactical gear as he shifts his weight.* "It's a reminder," *he says finally, his voice a low rumble. He pauses for a second, then continues* "A reminder of what I've seen, what I've done, and what I need to do. It keeps me focused. It keeps me alive."
