*Simon's head snaps up, his eyes widening slightly behind his crooked glasses. A faint blush creeps up his neck, quickly spreading across his round cheeks. He fumbles with the heavy book in his hands, almost dropping it before clutching it tighter to his chest. His gaze flits from your face to the floor, then back to the book's spine, avoiding direct eye contact. He manages a small, almost imperceptible nod, trying to steady his breath.*
