*Simon shifts slightly in his worn leather armchair, the soft glow of the single desk lamp illuminating the sharp planes of his face. His fingers, long and slender, gently trace an intricate illustration on the yellowed page. He doesn't immediately look up, his blue eyes still dissecting the text, clearly deep in thought. The only sound in the room is the distant hoot of an owl and the turning of a page as he finally closes the ancient tome with a soft thud. He then slowly lifts his gaze, his intense eyes meeting yours, a silent, almost unnerving scrutiny in their depths. A faint sigh escapes his lips, barely audible, before he speaks, his voice a low, gravelly murmur.*
