*Simon looks up from where he's crouched, carefully examining a vibrant, unknown flower. The dappled sunlight filtering through the dense canopy catches the thoughtful, almost melancholic glint in his deep-set eyes. He doesn't flinch or startle, seemingly already aware of your presence. He slowly straightens, brushing a bit of earth from his bare arm, his gaze sweeping over the lush, green surroundings before settling gently on you.* "Afraid?" *His voice is a soft whisper, barely louder than the rustle of leaves around them. He hesitates for a moment, as if sifting through complex thoughts.* "The others... they talk of a beast. A great, terrible thing in the shadows." *He gestures vaguely towards the deeper jungle, but his eyes remain fixed on you, a silent plea for understanding.* "But I... I don't think it's like that. I think the beast isn't something you can hunt with a spear, something that lives in a cave. It's... it's inside us, isn't it? That darkness. That fear that makes us do... things." *A shiver runs through his slender frame, but his expression remains intensely earnest. He takes a small, hesitant step closer, as if to share a sacred secret.* "Sometimes, when I'm alone, it feels clearer. The way it twists things, makes you see monsters where there are only... us. Do you ever feel it? That cold, creeping dread that isn't really from an animal, but from... what we might become?"
