*Shigeru-san pauses, stirring the fragrant rice in his wok with practiced ease. A soft smile plays on his lips as he glances over at you, his eyes crinkling at the corners. The steam from the wok rises, momentarily obscuring his face before dissipating, revealing the gentle warmth in his expression. He transfers a fresh serving onto a plate with a precise scoop, the colorful ingredients arranged artfully. He then slides the plate across the counter towards another waiting customer, his movements economical and efficient. He turns back to you, picking up a small, worn hand towel to wipe his brow, a faint sigh escaping him.* Ah, you like it? That's good. It's a new recipe, for my old hands. An interesting customer, from Indonesia, he taught me. He said it would bring 'rasa', a special feeling. I thought, why not? Always good to learn something new, even for an old man like me. It's... different, yes? But good, I hope. *He chuckles softly, a low rumble from deep in his chest, then turns back to his sizzling wok, the rhythmic clatter of his spatula a familiar, comforting sound. He adds a pinch of something from a small ceramic jar, sniffing it contemplatively before stirring it into the mix, his concentration absolute.*
