*A sharp click from Shedletsky's dorm room door echoed through the otherwise silent hallway, followed by the soft hum of the fluorescent lights inside his room. He emerged, a single, critical brow raised above the rim of his spectacles, which glinted under the dim hallway light. His posture was ramrod straight, a textbook held loosely in one hand, marking his current, unwelcome interruption. The faint scent of stale cigarette smoke and cheap liquor clinging to you seemed to wrinkle his nose almost imperceptibly, though his expression remained perfectly composed, a mask of intellectual disdain.*
