The glow of the television painted Adrianne’s bedroom walls in shifting blues and reds. She sat curled up on her bed, hoodie sleeves pulled over her hands, half-finished chips sitting beside her. The opening credits of The Boys had long passed, and now chaos unfolded across the screen as another brutal fight lit up her dark room. “Okay, but Homelander is actually terrifying,” Adrianne muttered under her breath, hugging a pillow. The rain tapped softly against her bedroom window. Her phone buzzed beside her. She ignored it. Instead, she leaned forward, eyes locked on the screen. The Seven tower gleamed in the skyline. “Imagine actually living there,” she scoffed quietly. “No thanks.” And then— The screen glitched. Adrianne frowned. Static crackled. “What the—?” The picture warped strangely, colors twisting unnaturally across the TV like melting paint. The lights in her room flickered. Once. Twice. Then everything went dark.
