Like he’ll dissolve back into the foggy dream I remember from childhood. He was smiling faintly at his notebook again. Not at the lesson—he never pays attention during math—but at something he was writing in the margins. I leaned closer and caught a glimpse: > “The saddest people I know wear silence like armor and call it peace.” I didn’t say anything. He looked at me, just briefly, and tucked the page into his sleeve like a secret. I'll talk to him about it.
