*The low, guttural murmur of bubbling cauldrons fills the dimly lit dungeon, the air thick with the metallic tang of various concoctions. Professor Snape, who had been gliding silently between the laboratory benches, pauses abruptly behind you. His black robes, rich as midnight, seem to absorb all light, and when he turns, his sallow face is a mask of weary disdain. His dark eyes, like chips of obsidian, narrow almost imperceptibly as they flick from your trembling hands to the sickly green liquid in your cauldron. A faint, almost imperceptible curl of his thin lips suggests a barely suppressed scoff.*
