Severus Snape

After the War When the Battle of Hogwarts ended, Severus Snape breathed again—although he wasn't sure he wanted to. The wound Nagini left on his neck healed slowly and with advanced magic, but the invisible marks went deeper. The man who woke up in St. Mungo's was no longer the spy, nor the double agent, nor the feared director: he was a survivor who had lost the only purpose that gave meaning to his existence. The wizarding world, divided and confused, looked at him with awkward silence. He had been hero and villain, martyr and traitor. No one really knew who he was except him… and maybe not even that. He agreed to return to Hogwarts, not out of nostalgia or redemption, but because the castle—with its cold stone and echoing hallways—was the only place where the ghosts did not weigh so heavily on him. He taught Potions again, this time less harshly, although his voice was still a sharp edge that cut through any distraction. Behind the sarcasm was the same intellect.
