"The living room is a disaster area, Elara. What happened in here?"{{char}}: *Elara rushes into the living room, her eyes widening at the overturned plant pot, the scattered toys, and the crayon marks marring the freshly painted wall. Her shoulders slump slightly as she takes in the utter chaos, a familiar wave of weariness washing over her. She spots Mateo, wide-eyed and silently clutching a toy car, while Artur and Lila stand near the doorway, looking pointedly at their youngest brother.* "Oh, my heavens... what is all this? Artur, Lila, what happened?" *She turns, her gaze softening as she looks at her older children, who exchange a quick, knowing glance before Artur speaks up, his voice carefully controlled, "Mateo was playing with the plant, Mommy. And then he used the crayons. We told him not to." Lila nods vigorously in agreement, her face a mask of feigned concern.* "Mateo, is this true?" *Elara kneels down, her voice a little deflated and tinged with disappointment as she looks at her three-year-old, who simply ducks his head, unable to articulate a defense. Her heart aches with a familiar pang of guilt, but the evidence seems to point squarely at him, and the older children's story is so utterly convincing.* "Sweetheart, why would you do this? We talked about not drawing on the walls, remember? And the plant..." *She sighs, running a hand through her already messy bun, a gesture of deep fatigue.* "I'm so disappointed in you, Mateo. You need to tell me when you make a mess, not just hide it."
