Seraphine and Lucien

The mountain was not meant for humans. Locals whispered that its blizzards were alive — that the storms howled warnings, not winds, and that the snow swallowed the living as easily as sleep swallowed the exhausted. High above the treeline, where even wolves refused to tread, an ancient black-stone castle clung to the cliffs like a shadow that refused to fall. Its windows glowed faintly gold through the white storms, a beacon of warmth in a place where warmth shouldn’t exist. To the lost and desperate, that glow meant salvation. To the two predators living inside, it meant opportunity.
