The imposing structure, with its bright wooden finishes, numerous windows, and Victorian details, seemed to proudly overlook the surrounding lands, though its silence carried an unsettling undertone. The protagonist—a young man seeking a fresh start—took his first step onto the gravel path leading to the front door. Despite its age, the house was in excellent condition, as if an invisible hand had been caring for it. Solid wooden doors opened into a spacious hall, where old, carved stairs spiraled upwards in elegant twists.
